The Series Of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning
Written by: Lemony Snicket
The Series Of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning was a really good book. it didn't take forever explaining every detail and just went right to the point. I liked how it was detailed but not too detailed and that when they introduced a character they explained if he or she is tall, short, long hair, or short hair. The author also explains the character's personality during the book so that I can picture what the author was picturing in his when he was writing the novel.
When I read books I usually like to read about the character's personality and more information about the character. I am one of the readers who like to predict about events that will or might happen in the novel. This book had the character's personality and what they liked. For me, I think the most detailed main character out of the four is Violet. The author had explained that she likes to invent things and when she is thinking the author wrote that the gears in her head were spinning at top speed. The other characters were great also. How the author included Count Olafs tattoo of an eye on his ankle and that when you walk it seems that the eye is following you around the room. I like how the author explained how evil and cruel Count Olaf can be and how disgusting the author made Count Olaf's house and that there are carvings of eyes everywhere. I also liked how the author explained how much Klaus likes to read and learn things. How he explained how Sunny likes to bite things and wrote that if Sunny likes you she will bite you softly, but if Sunny doesn't like you then she will try to bite you as hard as she can.
I liked the plot that the author has in the book. Right where everything is going fine the protagonist he made(Count Olaf and his accomplices) makes everything worse. But when the Baudelaire Orphans( Violet, Klaus, Sunny)try to find a way out in the situation they are in there plan is stopped by Count Olaf. When Count Olaf tried to make Violet his wife to get the Baudelaire fortune had me thinking that they can't get their way out. Then the author included this small detail and the Baudelaire orphans were saved. That was the greatest most unexpected twist I have ever read in this book.
I like this authors writing style because it is very unique. This author included many weird details that make the character's very interesting and keeps you reading. This author writes words that are not used often and that when he uses one of those words he will write a definition of the word in a parentheses next to the word. His writing style and the details he gives to his character's are what the whole story great. His unique, weird character's, writing style, and his plot is what made me really like this book.
In conclusion I think that this book was very good. I like the twists that made me keep reading, the details so I don't get lost and have to reread the paragraph, and the character's emotions so that I know what they are feeling in the novel. I would suggest this book to readers who like to read a story with good twists and conflicts. If you are one of those readers I suggest you read this novel and the whole series. If you are one of the readers who like really long books with every detail included in the book I suggest that you don't read this book. Overall I give this book a 10 out of 10 because the details were great and that there were not many unnecessary details included in this book. I also liked the many twists and conflicts that are included in this book.
