What is the What #3

Quote #1
"I ran through the night. I ran because no one had told me to stop. I ran listening to my breathing, loud like a train, and ran with my arms outstretched to protect me from trees and brush. I ran until I was seized by something. I had been running at top speed and then I was stopped, stuck like an insect in the silk of a spider. I tried to shake free but I had been punctured. Pain seared me everywhere. There were even teeth in my leg, in my arm. I lost consciousness."~Valentino pg 200 2nd paragraph

This was Valentino running away again. I have noticed that Valentino runs alot in his life before he came to the U.S. He ran and hid from the murahaleen and he is running now. This quote relates to the first question because Valentino is tired. He doesn't want to run away from things anymore just to survive. He wants to live regularly without people hunting. He wants to live with a normal job at a normal place. Knowing that he won't get chased or at least not as much as he was in Sudan. This is one of maybe many reasons that Valentino left and came to America.

I can relate to this because today at x-block Ms.Morales made all of us run a whole lap around the whole park. It was a really huge park. Even though it wasn't dark I was running as fast as i can because I just wanted to finish the lap. When I was running all I can hear is my breathing and I almost hit the branches of a tree while I was running so I had to stretch my arm out so I don't get smacked in the face by the pointy branches.

Have you ever ran so much before that all you can hear is your breath and you had to move your hands or arms in the way so you don't get hit by anything?

Quote #2
"I could not keep it straight. In seconds the bicycle tilted and the tire turned slowly and I fell like the horseman had in Marial Bai, caught under the bike. My leg struck a hard patch of dirt and roots and my wound opened up, wider than before" ~Valentino pg 207, 2nd paragraph

This quote relates to the fifth question because here Valentino is lost. He was in a group and now the group was gone. He is trying to find them and a faster way is to use a bike. Here he is trying to ride a bike but falls and his wound opens up. This is one challenge that Valentino is having to face while he makes a new life in America.

I can relate to this because I remember when I was first learning how to ride a bike. I didn't have my parents or anyone hold it while I was riding. I just had training wheels. But I learned fast and had the training wheels off in a few days or weeks. While I was learning I fell alot of times. Mostly on my hands so I can brake the fall. I had alot of scrapes on my hands after. I can relate to this quote because everyone falls at least once while they are trying to learn how to ride a bike.

Have you ever fell on the concrete while trying to learn how to ride a bike?

I think that the quote you chose was a good one. There were some similies used in it that really helped describe what was going on. I also liked it just because I thought what was going on in the quote was interesting.

Question 1 Answer
One time I was running really fast on a treadmill and a almost tripped and I was breathing really hard, but other than that, no.

I think this quote shows how hard some things were for Valentino to adjust to in the U.S. Valentino said that he "...fell like the horsemen had in Mariel Bai...", which is something that I thought was interesting, that he could relate to that, even though the circumstances were so different.

Question 2 Answer
One time when I was five I was riding my bike down a hill, and my shoelaces were untied. My shoelaces got caught in the gears and I flipped over the handlebars and landed on my chin, which is why I have a scar there.
